
Formative study report on the utilisation of learning assessment in Uganda is launched! This is part of adapting assessment into policy and learning (ADAPT): Adolescent 21st Century Skills Project implemented in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
The event was successfully attended by policy makers and stake holders in the education sector of Uganda as they came together to find the best way to integrate the 21st Century skills into the curriculum and assessment of learners at all levels of education.
The six hour launch consisted a number of activities and a talk from Prof. Anthony Mugagga Muwagga (Principal CEES) in relation to the report, a panel discussion by Mr. Barugahare Brighton (Commissioner, planning and policy – MoES), Mr. Modern Karema (Country Director, STiR Education/RELI), Prof. Bisaso Ronald (Deputy Principal CEES Makerere University, Kampala) and Ms. Florence Kyomuhendo (MoES). A Question and Answer session by Dr. Kabugo David followed, then the ADAPT Report study presentation by Dr. John Mary Vianney Mitana (JM Education and Research Center – JMERC) and official launch by Mr. George Mutekanga (Assistant commisioner – Private schools and institutions.
Congratulations JMERC and the College of Education and External Studies (CEES), Makerere University for spearheading this research that is critical to Uganda’s education.
