related to their SRH; 2) existing SES skills and
those they wished to acquire; and 3)
understanding of the supports they needed to
maximize their SRH during crises such as the

The study set out to give a conceptual definition and assessment of Higher Order Thinking skills (HOTs), and establish the proportion of HOTs and Lower Order Thinking skills (LOTs) questions within the 2010- 2016 Uganda Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) questions.
This article presents an analysis of Sternberg’s theory of successful intelligence. Sternberg defines intelligence as one’s ability to achieve one’s goals in life, given one’s social-cultural context; by capitalising on strengths and correcting or compensating for weaknesses in order to adapt, shape and select environments through a combination of analytical, creative and practical skills.

Anchoring on the holistic model of enabling the youth to courageously embrace the future and their present situations and providing educational, psychosocial support to schools, families and communities, we have set up running programs in teachers professional development and special youth-tailored programs such as life skills, Social and Emotional Skills (SES), Sexual and Reproductive and Health Rights (SRHR), Employability Skills and Entrepreneurship skills.

The study reveals that while participants identified SES such as self-management and selfawareness which they need for their wellbeing and SRH, they face interlocking challenges such as lack of agency to utilise the skills, inhibiting gender norms and power inequalities, and general lack of supportive ecosystem. The study findings indicate an overwhelming majority of the adolescent girls cited engaging in transactional sex to acquire basic goods (especially menstrual hygiene products) and they also described an increase in social and emotional vulnerability, resulting from the strict lockdown measures during the pandemic as particularly detrimental to their attendance at school.
